John has been working with cattle for over 30 years with special interest in footcare and fertility. John passed his Dutch Diploma in Cattle Foot Trimming in 1992. His special interest in Cattle Ultrasound has taken him teaching throughout the world. In- house referral cases are of particular interest and John has achieved exceptional success in treating cystic ovarian disease.

Pieter has been Head Instructor at the DTC (Dairy Training Centre) responsible for the introduction of the Dutch Trimming Method. He is considered the Guru of Foot Trimming. Pieter trains and examines for the Dutch Diploma and five-step trimming method throughout the world. His relaxed and humorous style makes Cattle Foot Care a pleasure to learn.
Owen graduated in 1994. He has worked at the University of Liverpool teaching farm animal veterinary practice and is now a partner in a large farm animal only practice in Cheshire. in 2007 Owen became a fully qualified CowSignals trainer. In 2009 he was awarded a Trehane Trust/ Nuffield travel scholarship to look into the role of the dairy vet in knowledge transfer and as a result studied dairy farming in The Netherlands, New Zealand and USA. Owen’s goal is to help farmers make changes on their farms which will benefit the cows, the quality of life and the bank balance!

Celia graduated from Edinburgh in 1994. Working as a farm vet she quickly developed an enthusiasm for cows’ feet! She passed her Dutch Diploma in Cattle Foot Trimming in 1999 and her Certificate in Cattle Health and Production in 2001 after which she started running day courses on feet and emergency procedures. Celia has been running courses for Embryonics since 2010.
AI / Fertility
John has worked within the UK dairy industry since 1972. He was awarded a HND from Harper Adams in 1976, undertook AI training in 1977 and achieved his Cert Ed qualification in 1988. Following practical experience including 12 years as head herdsman responsible for 250 cows and 6 years as manager of a 220 head herd John has been a professional AI technician for the last 18 years including 4 years at RMS culminating in his appointment as Team Leader. John completed his RMS Advanced Training in the USA in 2006

Helen qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2003, then spent 3 years working in a mixed practice in North Wales. She then returned to the University of Liverpool to carry out a 3 year residency in ruminant health. Helen has a passion for education and helping undergraduates develop their skills and stayed on at Leahurst as a senior lecturer. She then obtained the certificate in cattle health and welfare in 2009 and a European Diploma in Bovine Health management in 2011. She is now a RCVS recognised specialist in Cattle Health and Production since 2014.

Mark qualified from London in 1984. Two years in mixed practice in Lancashire was followed by exclusively farm practice in Sussex , veterinary investigation/research work at SAC Veterinary Services in Ayr, Area Veterinary Manager for Pfizer Animal Health then a return to farm practice in Ayrshire. Since returning to farm practice Mark has, amongst other things, focused on improving the practice’s management of abomasal conditions of dairy cows and the practice has been using laparoscopy in cattle for over 2 years.
Craig has worked in the dairy industry for over 20 years and after completing his studies at Walford College in 1998 has gone on to be Herd Manager for two large dairy herds. Craig undertook the Professional Cattle Foot Trimming course in 2009 and began trimming commercially. Craig gained his Dutch Diploma in Cattle Foot Trimming in May 2011 and his NPTC Level 3 in Cattle Foot Trimming in September 2011 and is fully licensed (Category 1) with the NACFT.
